Lockdown Information Update:

We are pleased to announce that our two pub beer gardens are open!

As of Monday 17th May we are planning to open the inside of the pub in line with government guidelines.

Tables can be booked in advance however we will be accepting walk ins if there is availability and during peak times we may have to limit your table stay to 3 hours. Please note that we will only hold your table for a maximum of 20mins especially during peak times after this time your table maybe allocated to someone else.

Covid restrictions will continue until further notice so please read the post below which explains how we are continuing to be a covid secure pub.

Thank you for your support and cooperation during these very strange times.

IMPORTANT Covid-19 information:

Due to Covid-19 restrictions we are now operating a one way system. Please enter via the front doors of the pub, use the hand sanitiser and either scan the app or sign in via the book and then wait to be seated by a member of staff. Our staff will allow you to get settled and will then come and take your order. Please keep all walking around to a minimum. We are currently ONLY operating table service.

History of this old pub

The earliest records for this building date back to 1495 when it became the Church House. It was used as a sort of parish hall for meetings and social events, the most important being the 'Church Ale'. This was held several times a year, whereby church wardens sold food and ale to raise funds for the church, together with dancing, plays and other festivities.
